Daisy Fuentes is a Cuban-born American actress, model and VJ born on November 17, 1966. She and her family left Cuba and first settled in Spain when she was three. Soon after, they migrated to Newark, New Jersey, then finally established a home in Harrison, New Jersey. At first she didn’t speak English, but learned the language by watching the series “I Love Lucy.” She studied at the Harrison High School and was the “Homecoming Queen” of her batch. She later majored in communications at Bergen Community College.
She began modeling during her senior year in high school. While a student in college, Daisy Fuentes was hired by WNJU-TV and became the channel’s weather girl. She soon worked for Telemundo New York, and not long after she transferred to Univision to become a reporter and weather anchor for the network’s evening news.
In 1988, Daisy Fuentes was hired by MTV Studios and became the host of various shows on the said channel. She first hosted “MTV’s House of Style,” followed by other shows such as “Ultimate Style,” “Eco Zone,” “Talk All Stars” and “Fashionably Loud.” Since then, she has been a favorite pick for presenting not only shows but also special events such as The ALMA Awards, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, the 1998 World Music Awards, and the 1999 Latin Awards. She also earned an Emmy award for Outstanding Host for presenting the “Countdown to the Latin Grammys” special.
Daisy Fuentes was also a host for pageants such as Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and Miss Universe. She also had her own talk show, “Daisy,” on CNBC.
Aside from hosting and presenting, Daisy Fuentes also ventured into the world of acting. She had a role in the ABC soap opera “Loving,” followed by appearances on shows such as “Cybill,” “Dream On” and “The Larry Sanders Show.”
Daisy Fuentes launched her first clothing line in 2004, and her designs were sold at Kohl’s Department Stores. She also has her own Pilates video game, “Daisy Fuentes Pilates” for Wii.
Daisy Fuentes was married to actor Timothy Adams from 1990 to 1994. She is currently engaged to ex-Bros front man Matt Gross.
